Check for hazards and save your tyres
When time’s short and the pressure’s on, unexpected events such as tyre damage have a habit of occurring. Expensive, inconvenient, and often the result of something as simple as a waratah lying forgotten in a paddock, FMG paid out over quarter of a million on incidents like this last year.
Working flat out at the height of the season, an FMG client lost a tractor tyre to just these circumstances. Taking a short cut through the paddock the tractor ran straight across a long-forgotten fencing stake. The tyre was damaged and work ground to a halt, causing massive disruption and costly delays. Fortunately they had purchased FMG’s farm vehicle tyre cover and were underway again in no time at all.
How can you avoid the same loss?
- Keep an eye out for hidden hazards around the farm, and take care of them immediately. You could save yourself a whole lot of money, time and hassle.
- If you can’t fix it then and there, mark it out, write it down and let others know about it.
Make sure your insurance policy is able to cover:
- Your farm vehicle tyres for accidental loss, including repair, replacement or payment of the present day value.
- Accidental breakage of windows, windscreens or headlamps.
- Reasonable costs to remove your farm vehicle to a safe place if it is not in a drivable condition.
