Service in a flash: Lance and Noleen Moir

Opunake locals Lance & Noeleen Moir have been farming together for over 35 years. Committed to their town, Lance & Noeleen were looking for a development opportunity that would allow them to give something back to their community.
Noeleen felt that Opunake needed a place where ladies could meet for lunch, a relaxed venue, a “restaurant with rooms”. So when the old tennis club came up for tender the Moir’s saw an opportunity.
With family pitching in, a strong vision and a tenacity that comes from years on the farm, the Headlands Hotel was conceived, financed and built.
Five years of hard work later, the Headlands Hotel was open and ready for business. FMG, already on board for the dairy farm, were alongside again.
Then, a week after opening night, disaster. Lightning struck and fire took hold in the roof. Water pipes burst, dampening the flames and assisting the local fire brigade, but the damage was done.
A call to the contact centre got FMG involved and on the spot straight away. The green light was given and work on rebuilding started immediately.
A year later the Headlands Hotel has shaken off the events of the first night, the locals and visitors to Opunake have a great venue and FMG are still alongside.
