Following Monday’s earthquake and subsequent aftershocks many of you will have already begun checking your property and belongings for damage and are looking to make a claim.
Here you'll find some advice to help you through the process.
For any damage to your house, please lodge a claim directly with EQC in the first instance. You have up to three months to do this. However, we encourage you to do this as soon as you notice damage ( to get you sorted quicker) if you notice additional damage you can still make a claim.
We recommend you do this as soon as you can by:
• Phoning 0800 DAMAGE (326 243)
Claims relating to commercial or farm buildings and contents are to be lodged directly with FMG. Claims relating to driveways, paths or fencing should also be lodged with FMG.
The EQC advice is that you should carry out any urgent repairs around your property to make your home safe, sanitary, secure and/or weather-tight, if this is practicable and safe. Where you can, you should take photos of any damage, including photos of perishable items before you throw these away.
If you have an open claim with FMG from previous earthquakes, please continue to work with your allocated FMG representative. If you have any questions or are unsure what to do, please call our claims team on 0800 366 466 and they’ll be able to help.
