What does COVID-19 mean for travel cover?
Travel insurance with FMG is provided through Cover-More. If you’ve taken travel cover through FMG’s provider Cover-More, we recommend contacting Cover-More directly.
What does COVID-19 mean for life, disability and medical insurance?
COVID-19 is treated the same as any other virus in life, disability and medical insurance policies. Please contact us to discuss your personal situation.
What does COVID-19 mean for other general insurance covers?
Disease and illness are excluded from any general FMG insurance policy, including business interruption. Generally speaking, business interruption responds when there’s a physical loss or damage, such as fire, flood or burglary. So, in this instance, there’s no cover for COVID-19 under our Business Interruption policy. There are specific criteria in place for when public authorities close down a premises. Unfortunately, COVID-19 does not meet any of these criteria.
Other liability and business insurance policies will also not respond to COVID-19 in most instances, as disease and sickness exclusions apply.
Please speak with your FMG representative directly or contact us to discuss your specific circumstances and cover queries.
