Covers your vehicle if it’s damaged or destroyed by a sudden, unintended and unforeseen event, or if it’s stolen. Your vehicle’s accessories or spare parts are also insured while they’re temporarily removed for repairing, cleaning or storage.
Up to $10,000,000 cover for your legal liability, inclusive of reasonable defence costs if you accidentally damage someone else’s property, or injure someone while using your vehicle. This cover also applies while you’re using someone else’s vehicle provided there is no other insurance, or if you let someone else use your vehicle.
If your caravan, campervan or motorhome is insured under this policy we’ll also cover accidental loss to any fixtures, fittings or furnishings which would usually be sold along with it. Utensils and supplies are also covered, but not your personal belongings.
If you buy an additional vehicle or replace your existing one it’s covered for present day value up to $100,000, as long as you let us know the details within 30 days of the purchase and pay any extra premium if we require it.
If your claim has been accepted we’ll cover up to $10,000 for the reasonable costs to prepare, present or certify it, for example if you need to hire an accountant to quantify your loss.
We’ll pay your estate $5,000 in the unfortunate event of your death as a result of a fire or a collision involving your vehicle. If you suffer one of the permanent injuries listed in the policy then we’ll pay you up to $5,000, depending on the type of injury.
If your vehicle is insured under this policy we’ll also cover your domestic trailer, or one in your care and control, for accidental loss up to $1,000, or up to the sum insured you’ve specified.
We’ll cover up to $1,000 for your employees’ vehicle accessories if we’ve accepted a claim for your vehicle, they were damaged as part of that loss, and they’re not insured elsewhere. This includes things like chains, stereos and radar detectors.
Cover for damage when the wrong fuel type is accidentally used, or it’s contaminated. If you realise the mistake before any damage is done we’ll pay the costs for getting the vehicle fuel tank cleaned out.
We’ll replace or repair your broken windscreens, windows, headlamps or sun roofs caused by accidental loss and you won’t have to pay an excess.
Up to $5,000 cover for the accidental breakdown or failure of hydraulic rams, hoists or other similar equipment permanently attached to your vehicle. This amount is included in, not in addition to, your sum insured.
If your horse truck or float is insured under this policy we’ll pay up to $500 each for the emergency grazing and stabling costs, and the cost for emergency vet care at the accident site.
If your vehicle’s keys are damaged, lost or stolen we’ll pay the reasonable cost to replace them and you won’t need to pay an excess. This also covers any electronic devices you use to access your vehicle.
This includes cover for natural disaster events including earthquake, eruption, tsunami and slips.
If you have a total loss claim for your vehicle within a year of the date it was first registered or purchased as new, we’ll replace it with a new one of the same make and model if it’s currently available.
If you’re in an accident, and you can give us the name, address and registration number of the other driver and we confirm they’re at fault, you won’t have to pay an excess.
We’ll pay reasonable costs you’ve incurred trying to recover your stolen vehicle, provided you get our consent first.
Covers the cost of moving your vehicle to the nearest safe place if it’s not driveable, or securing or otherwise taking care of it, after a loss.
Up to $5000 cover for the cost of refilling your fire fighting equipment after it’s used to protect your vehicle.
If you offer a reward with our consent to protect or recover your vehicle following a loss, we’ll pay up to $5,000.
We’ll pay up to $5,000 for the costs clearing debris or moving your property from any roads or parking lots after a loss.
If your vehicle suffers a loss while you’re away, we’ll pay up to $2,000 towards travel and accommodation costs so you and your passengers can complete your trip or get back home. This also includes the cost if you need to travel and collect the vehicle.
Cover for your liability for accidental loss or injury while you’re using your domestic trailer or someone else’s. This also covers boat trailers, caravans, camper trailers and horse floats.
Cover for your liability if you, or a co-worker, are using your vehicle for your employer’s business.
Covers your liability and defence costs, up to $1,000,000 for costs awarded against you under the Forest and Rural Fires Act 1977.
Covers up to $5,000 for your liability costs under the Fire Services Act 1975, following a hazardous substances emergency involving your vehicle.
If your horse truck or float is insured under this policy this covers your liability costs for accidental loss or injury caused by an animal that has escaped from it, provided reasonable attempts were made to restrain it.
If you’re charged with manslaughter, careless, dangerous or reckless driving causing death following an accident covered by this policy, we’ll pay up to $2,000 for your legal fees.
Cover for your liability for any costs you are required to pay as a result of deliberate damage to prevent a loss to a ship and/or cargo while your vehicle is being carried by ship between New Zealand ports.
If you have to hire a replacement vehicle while your specified vehicle is getting repaired or replaced following a loss, this will cover up to $100 a day, for up to 30 days from the time we accept your claim.
Vehicles are covered for present day value which means we’ll pay the cost of repairs to the same condition as before the loss or the present day value, whichever is less, up to the amount shown on your certificate.
Present day value is the value just before the loss and takes into account the age and condition of the vehicle. Think of it is as similar to the second hand value.
