Cover you might also want

As an FMG client, there are a number of other products you might want to consider.

We have our horse and float insured with FMG and they are, by far, the best insurers for horses.

Answering your questions about horse insurance

  • Horse float cover is available separately under private vehicle insurance, which can protect your horse float against accidental damage and cover your legal liability for accidental bodily injury and accidental damage to the property of others, arising from an accident involving the vehicle

  • Yes, the way you use your horse affects the type of coverage available from FMG. We generally do not provide cover for racing horses. You can select the cover that best suits how your horse is used. Your horse’s age will also impact which cover levels you’re eligible for, so make sure to check the age criteria before choosing your policy.

  • Competition and higher-value horses are typically suited to more comprehensive cover options, like our Horse Deluxe or Horse Plus package.

  • Our horse insurance policies can cover leisure or companion horses. The most suitable option will depend on factors such as the amount of cover you want and the age of the horse.

  • We occasionally cover racing horses and bloodstock. Please call us to discuss your options.

  • Our External Accident Only policy can provide basic cover for accidental death as a result of accidental external and visible injury. It does not cover illness, disease, or veterinary costs.

  • In general, FMG does not typically offer cover for miniature ponies or horses used for polo.
