Rental House Policy


  • What?

    We have updated your coverage for bridges and culverts – please see new Automatic Benefit 3.11

    We have updated references to ‘Natural Disaster’, and ‘EQC’ to match the new names under the Natural Hazards Insurance Act 2023.   There is no change in your FMG cover.

    We have updated ‘Natural Landslip’ to ‘Natural Landslide’ and re-worded the Natural Landslide definition to match the Natural Hazards Insurance Act 2023.  There is no change in your FMG cover.


    Why?

    Your bridge and culvert cover has been updated to provide clarity around what is covered under your Rental House policy and to ensure we have the correct Sum Insured associated with any bridge or culvert that provides the main access to your rental house.

    Please contact FMG if:

    - You have a bridge or culvert that is not on the main access way to your rental house that you would like covered.

    - The bridge or culvert on the main access way to your rental house is worth more than $50,000.

    - The bridge or culvert that is on the main access way to your rental house also provides access to your farm or commercial workplace.

    Your policy has been updated to comply with the new Natural Hazards Insurance Act 2023.  There is no change in your FMG cover.

    When?

    This change affects all policies renewing on or after 01 May 2024.

    Your bridge and culvert cover has been updated to provide clarity around what is covered under your Rental House policy and to ensure we have the correct Sum Insured associated with any bridge or culvert that provides the main access to your rental house.

    Please contact FMG if:

    - You have a bridge or culvert that is not on the main access way to your rental house that you would like covered.

  • What?

    We have removed cover for accidental loss caused by terrorism.

    Why?

    Your policy has been updated to remove any ambiguity as to the applicable FENZ Levy under new legislation, which comes into effect from 1 July 2026.

    When?

    This change affects all policies renewing on or after 1 July 2026.

    We’ve removed the automatic benefit that covered accidental loss caused by terrorism.

    To remove any ambiguity as to the applicable FENZ Levy under the Fire and Emergency New Zealand (Levy) Regulations 2024 and Fire and Emergency New Zealand Act 2017.
