FMG has launched two thought-provoking and future-focused reports—The Future of Farming and Growing in New Zealand and The Future of Insurance, looking ahead to 2025.
These reports are intended to support our strategic planning but we feel that both can also contribute to the on-going discussion about the future of farming, growing and insurance. With over 50% of rural New Zealand insured with us, these reports will support us to respond to, lead within and create a future where FMG and our members can succeed. We need to keep on top of what’s changing to support strong and prosperous rural communities.
We interviewed a broad group of industry stakeholders to evaluate the impact of past, present and future macro‐environmental forces.
We deliberately sought to form an opinion and take a position in the authorship of both reports and we welcome further discussion and challenge of these opinions.
The reports can either be read together as a complementary package or separately.
The Future of Farming and Growing in New Zealand
The future is bright for New Zealand farmers and growers, but it will be different and so will its people.
Looking ahead to 2025, this report identifies four major areas that will drive the most change: ethics, technology, economics and leadership. While some pose a challenge, many are opportunities.
The Future of Insurance
The insurance sector is experiencing a change of pace and will be faced with new challenges to navigate.
Technology is a key theme explored in the report and we view it as a significant shaper of The Future of Insurance. Those insurers who use technology to provide better service for less cost will develop deeper trust and experience sustainable growth.
The flip side of this is the risk of being left behind, which opens up opportunities for acquisitions and client-focused insurers.
