Hail cover is available during the whole relevant period of insurance for your crop and is not restricted to post 15 November.
Harvested crop is covered for sudden and unforeseen loss for up to 12 months from the date of harvest or until sold. This includes while it’s in transit or stored anywhere in New Zealand.
We’ll pay the yield loss (the potential minus the actual yield) multiplied by the market value or the insurance value per tonne, whichever is less.
You can adjust the potential yield for your crops up until 1 February (maximum 25% downward adjustment) but if your crop is damaged within 48 hours of an adjustment we’ll settle your claim based on the potential yield prior to the adjustment. Condition of Average also applies if your crop is insured for less than 85% of the potential yield.
For wheat we’ll deduct what you’re entitled to under the United Wheat Growers insurance.
If you have a loss within 40 days of planting we’ll pay up to 80% of replanting costs to replace damaged crop.
